Climate Change,
A Global challenge

Massive urbanization

2 billion people will move to cities by 2050

This will increase the demand and requirements for energy, built infrastructure and a supporting ecosystem.

Clean air, drinking water, and healthy living environments are not guaranteed without sustainable actions today. Habitat India aims to create sustainable cities and communities by leveraging technology and innovation, generating a scalable positive impact for a regenerative and healthy planet.

Ecological Footprint

Quantifying Environmental Impact

The measure of impact of an individual or community on the environment and can be expressed as the amount of resources consumed. It is the most comprehensive biological resource accounting metric available.

Earth Overshoot Day

Demand > Biocapacity

The Earth Overshoot Day occurs when humanity’s demand on nature exceeds Earth’s annual biocapacity. Simply speaking the regenerative capacity of the Earth is being challenged every day by us.

In 2023, Earth Overshoot Day landed on August 2nd, the trend is far from reversing.

Carbon footprint

A measure of human impact

Carbon footprint is the measure of the impact that human activities have on the environment. It’s a methodology to quantify the amount of CO2 emissions generated from any particular activity. It’s measured in units of CO2e which is the global warming potential (GWP) of different greenhouse gases.

Chasing Net Zero

Our Target

Net zero means the total amount of GHGs emitted equals the amount removed from the atmosphere. The offset happens through activities like reforestation, carbon capture utilisation & storage (CCUS).

1

Net zero in carbon accounting refers to the process of reducing and offsetting carbon emissions to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

2

It means that any remaining emissions are offset through the use of carbon sinks or other means.

3

Thus, resulting in a balance between emissions and removal of carbon from the atmosphere.

Carbon Market

Emission Reductions

Carbon credits, also known as carbon offsets, are permits that allow the owner to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases. One credit permits the emission of one ton of carbon dioxide or the equivalent in other greenhouse gases.

High carbon emissions leading to global warming is a challenge that the entire planet grapples with today. The continuous rise in atmospheric CO2 is tipping the greenhouse effect out of balance.

With massive urbanisation, regenerative buildings are the prerequisite to be future ready. Curating inclusive, ecologically restorative and healthy living ecosystems for synergising human and planet health.

Large scale formal disposal and responsible recycling towards reducing e-waste’s negative impact on the planet to reduce pollution, resource depletion and to foster a cleaner, greener & healthier world.

Driven by innovation, circularity leads in creating a process that eliminates waste at the design and inception stage itself, leading to an enhanced value stream for creating a planet centric ecosystem.

Convenience has turned into a catastrophe, plastic is found everywhere it shouldn’t, in ocean beds, rivers, landfills, trek base camps. The whole planet is being wrapped with MPW.

Habitat India aims to be the catalyst for the transition to a sustainable, healthy and a resilient urban ecosystem, by being the enabler for greener built environs, reduced carbon emissions, plastic and e-waste mitigation while bringing circular economy to the core of business strategy for scalable impact.

Green Hub

our curated ecosystem

Green Hub is our curated ecosystem of like-minded individuals and corporates passionate about conscious living for a healthy planet.

A community that is sustainability driven and jointly contributes for building Eco-awareness, Eco-learning, Eco-initiatives. The membership is open to individuals, corporates, sustainability focused brands, as well as startups to ignite ideas, imagination that leads to increased intensity towards creating positive action for a resilient Habitat.

Circular Economy

It is the disruption we seek for “A Sustainable Habitat”

At current rate, humanity is using the equivalent of 1.75 times the earth’s natural resources each year.

We need to move away from the shackles of a throwaway economy where outdated value chains are destroying the intrinsic strengths of our planet rather than enhancing and regenerating our only habitat

The need today is of disruptive design technology that moves away from the linear economy.  The process of take, make and waste is not sustainable, circularity is the only roadmap for a resilient planet.

Our Vision

To be the catalysts for a planet friendly and planet centric society.

At Habitat India we are leading the transition from being “Consumers to Citizens and finally the Custodians of the Planet.”

Our Mission

Creating a platform for inculcating Planet Positive Living.

Lead initiatives to create awareness, nurture ideas and innovation in pursuing the development of a resilient ecosystem for a sustainable planet.
